Mercedes-Benz Safety Features Available For You:

Mercedes-Benz continues to set the standard in the automotive industry by offering new and improved safety features. ATTENTION ASSIST® is the first system of its kind that continuously monitors up to 70 parameters of driving behavior and alerts the driver if it detects any signs of drowsiness. This is crucial for all those long trips behind the wheel and helps to ensure the safety of yourself and others on the road. Alerts are visual and audible warnings.*
Blind spots are areas of the road that you cannot see, even from rear-view or side mirrors. If a vehicle is in your blind spot and you don’t see that vehicle, a dangerous situation like a wreck could occur. Fortunately with Active Blind Spot Assist, you have some extra help detecting if a vehicle is in a blind spot. Once you have reached speeds above 20 mph, this advanced Mercedes-Benz safety feature is activated and radar technology helps detect if a vehicle is in a blind spot on either side of you. An illuminated icon appears on the side mirror. You’ll hear a warning tone and see a display in the instrument cluster if a turn signal is activated.**
Driving in the rain can be difficult, especially during downpours. It’s extra important during these times to keep your eyes on the road ahead. Rain-sensing windshield wipers help keep your undivided attention where it should. The wipers automatically adjust to the intermittent wiper frequency based on the amount of rainfall.
With a rearview camera, you’re able to see directly behind your vehicle when going in reverse. This Mercedes-Benz safety feature assists drivers when backing up. A wide-angle camera is mounted in the rear of the Mercedes-Benz vehicle and once you’re in reverse, a live view of what’s behind you shows up on the COMAND® screen.***
This optional feature available in Mercedes-Benz vehicles alerts the driver by vibrating the steering wheel if the vehicle starts to go off course and out of the appropriate lane.+

*Driving while drowsy or distracted is dangerous and must be avoided. ATTENTION ASSIST® may be insufficient to alert a fatigued or distracted driver of lane drift and cannot be relied on to avoid an accident or serious injury. **Blind Spot Assist may not be sufficient to avoid all accidents involving vehicles in your blind spot and does not estimate the speed of approaching vehicles. It should not be used as a sole substitute for driver awareness and checking of surrounding traffic conditions. ***Rearview camera does not audibly notify driver of nearby objects and is not a substitute for actively checking around the vehicle for any obstacles or people. Images displayed may be limited by camera field of view, weather, lighting conditions and the presence of dirt, ice or snow on the camera. 1COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST may not be sufficient to avoid an accident. It does not react to certain stationary objects, nor recognize or predict the curvature and/or lane layout of the road or every movement of vehicles ahead. It is the driver's responsibility at all times to be attentive to traffic and road conditions, and to provide the steering, braking and other driving inputs necessary to retain control of the vehicle. Drivers are cautioned not to wait for the system's alerts before braking, as that may not afford sufficient time and distance to brake safely. 2No system, regardless of how advanced, can overcome the laws of physics or correct careless driving. Please always wear your seat belt. Driver's deliberate steering inputs will override the intervention of Crosswind Assist. 3WARNING: THE FORCES OF A DEPLOYING AIR BAG CAN CAUSE SERIOUS OR FATAL INJURIES TO A CHILD UNDER AGE 13. THE SAFEST SEATING POSITION FOR YOUR CHILD IS IN THE REAR SEAT, BELTED INTO AN APPROPRIATE, PROPERLY INSTALLED CHILD SEAT, OR CORRECTLY WEARING A SEAT BELT IF TOO LARGE FOR A CHILD SEAT. SEE OPERATOR'S MANUAL FOR ADDITIONAL WARNINGS AND INFORMATION ON AIR BAGS, SEAT BELTS AND CHILD SEATS. +Driving while drowsy or distracted is dangerous and must be avoided. Lane Keeping Assist may be insufficient to detect a fatigued or distracted driver or driver inattention. It cannot be relied on to avoid an accident or serious injury. No system, regardless of how advanced, can overcome the laws of physics or correct careless driving. Please always wear your seat belt. Performance is limited by available traction, which snow, ice and other conditions can affect. Always drive carefully, consistent with conditions. Best performance in snow is obtained with winter tires. ++Braking effectiveness also depends on proper brake maintenance, and tire and road conditions.
